Winter Wonderland 2023

A big dump of the white stuff transforms the place

So, I’m in my happy place looking for Mountain Hares. Unfortunately, their numbers were low this year, but I did find a few and the goats.

Just walking up the hills and seeing the views is amazing and all of this I had to myself, not a sole in sight.

I did have sometime watching the Snow buntings

Glenmore is a great place to visit. I had a hike up one of its walks to An Lochan Uaine, also known as the Green Loch. It’s a small, freshwater loch located in the Cairngorms. This visit it was frozen over. A little further on, Ryvoan bothy is reached, more or less at the head of the pass. The bothy is maintained by volunteers from the Mountain Bothy Association

I was hoping for the snow to last a bit longer lower down, so I could capture the Red Deer at Laggan in it. I left Aviemore for Laggan and it was soon apparent the snow had already melted that way.

It’s a great place to spend the day with the Deer. There is always something going on, if you are lucky the Brown Hares may be around.

Great sunsets to be seen

Stopped off at Glencoe on my way home. One of my happy places, amazing scenery everywhere
